A Busy Busy Week

My good friend Andrea had a baby and so we got to have Summit over a lot this week. The boys helped me make playdough- I always think homemade playdough is a little blah in the color saturation- ah but not when you use a whole bottle of food coloring. Don't ask why they are naked. If you are a mother you understand the constant need of a toddler to be naked. Alma has been trying to get me to embrace our identy of an all nude all the time household. I am not buying.

And this is the benefit of getting a new fridge- the box.

And then the boys started to slide standing up. I said "Wow you're skateboarders!" and you would not believe the look I got from Coen when he said "Mom we are snowboarding- like Sean White." He really put me in my place. He later started trying to slide on different things to go faster, books and the wagon were the clear winners.

And this is what you do after two days of constant sliding- veg with your brother. Maybe the fridge was worth all that money.

Yeah I don't really love this either. I keep fussing with it and not helping so I think it is time to just put it away and be done with it.

I don't really love how this turned out. I do love the yarn, but not so much in this project. I tried to pretty it up by adding a scalloped border. And I think it could be cute with the right outfit, I hope.

Getting some of Those Crafts Done

These are the leg warmers for Mckinlee. Coen wanted to model them for us. He is one hot little guy!

So I Was Quite the Productive Little Housewifey

I made this fabulous shepards pie recipe (I think the bottle of Irish Stout made the difference) I made a Quadruple batch and froze two and sent one over to Dad and Hollys. I also made a batch of Irish brown bread- we ate this every day in Ireland and I loved it. We don't really have anything quite like it here. I liked this recipe but I tweaked it a little.

Then one day this last week I made a huge batch of Cafe Rio's Pork Barbacoa salad (one of my favorites- that and the grilled samon tacos). I make Alma eat there every day when we go back to Utah- and now I can make my own! And I looked at a bunch of versions on line and kind of came up with this one. This is a picture of the creamy tomatillo dressing that is devine (it is also on the salmon tacos). I could drink this big vat of fat. yum.

And at the same time I made a triple batch of barbeque meatballs. I really wanted to fill up the freezer. After we ate dinner I loaded up the extra batches and asked Alma to take them out to the freezer. I loaded up the pork and put it in the fridge (in the produce drawer that freezes everything). The next morning Alma woke me up to tell me the fridge was dead. I wandered out and touched to pork and it was still cold thanks to the freezing drawer, and stuck it in the freezer, told Alma "Thank goodness the meatballs got frozen." and toddled back to bed. Later that day Alma admitted that he had just put the meatballs in the fridge and figured that he would tranfer them in the morning. Sigh- so lots of work lost. Along with everything else in the fridge. And it will be close to a week before we can get the new insanely expensive fridge that will fit in our kitchen- grrrrr. Insanely expensive. Coen told me on the third day of no milk with his cereal that Dad and I should go to work and make some money to buy a new refridgerator.

Because I am Crazy

So I actually counted how many kids I send these little packages to- it was an insane number- insane. These got finished thanks to Marika- but not soon enough to get there before Easter. So if anyone can guess how many kids are on my mailing list you will get some kind of prize. What I don't know- give me some ideas of what you would like. I had a great picture in my head of a chocolate bunny sitting in grass, with jelly bean eggs all around, but I couldn't really afford the pretty bunnys- so this is a sad shadow of what I really wanted. On a good note the boys job was putting in the jelly beans- which they loved. Some of those jelly beans were a little sticky by the time they got in the bag.

RS Birthday Party

So here are some pictures from the RS Birthday dinner. We didn't have a program, instead we went from table to table and just quizzed the different sisters about themselves, and we laughed a lot. I loved how the room turned out and you don't quite see it all on the pictures.

For dinner we had a salad bar, three soups (cream of asparagus, a Tuscan potatoe and sausage soup, and a taco soup), and for dessert I made a straberry cake (Jackie's recipe). I just loved how everything tuned out. Since this I have seen two other RS dinners online that decorated with the pouf balls and even a similar menu.
